On Sunday the 2nd October saw the 11th Beverley food festival joined by the regions most talented chefs including our very own Ben Cox.
Ben joined forces in the sunny afternoon with Beverley Building Society to celebrate 150 years in business when they were first founded.
Ben takes us back to 1866 demonstrating a recipe that was found within the East Riding archives.
Baked Lemon Pudding
Ingredients:
4oz butter
8oz sugar
2 egg whites
1 lemon
6 egg yolks
Beat well together 4oz of fresh butter creamed and 8oz of sifted sugar. To these add gradually the yolks of 6 eggs and the whites of 2 with the grated rind and strained juices of a lemon,
This must be add by slow degrees and stir briskly to the other ingredients. Bake the pudding ingredients with very thin paste lining the dish for three quarters of an hour in a slow oven
Once again the festival was hailed a great success as thousands gorge on the best of local produce.
